It’s Thursday 10 o’clock, after an eventful flight we finally arrived in Alesund. At the airport we were welcomed by our Romanian colleagues, they’ve been nice enough to accompany us to the address of our place and to help us with the luggage. The first impression not so good of this city surrounded by water was the low temperature and the rainy weather, but once I stepped into the suite I forgot about the tiredness. Mister Oddvar Skarbø did a great job finding us this flat and arranged it in order for us to accommodate and to feel more like home.
After a good night sleep, Friday morning we visited the Alesund University to meet with the person in charge of the admission at master degree and the centre of the city. The building is new from what I heard of, and has everything a student needs: a library, a bookshop, a canteen, computers everywhere. Our classes are easy to find because the classrooms are divided for each faculty on each floor. You can even enter in this building in the middle of the night if you want to finish your project, each student has an id card with a password.
Our first class was a best practice course, System modeling. In this course you get the opportunity to verify your knowledge in physics, mathematics, thermotechnics, mechanics and electrical engineering. Even if we lost almost two months, we succeeded with our mandatory assignments.
About the city I can say that I am loving it, has a great architecture and a great view of the mountains covered with snow. The bus station is near the sea, so I can see every day the boats and the ships that enter in the seaport. The people are civilized, polite and here everyone speaks English.
